In today's world, almost all pets will have at least one surgical procedure performed during their lifetime as we spay and neuter our pets to increase their overall health, curtail unwanted behavior and prevent unwanted litters. Additional surgeries for our pets during their lifetime would include dental cleaning to reduce inflammation and recession of the gums which eventually leads to infection, bad breath and finally to the loss of teeth. That's why we've made the commitment to develop a competent, committed and caring team of veterinarians, technical assistants and staff to make certain our patients -and their owners - understand and experience surgical procedures we recommend as painless and successful as is possible.
While we do not require a pre-anesthetic blood screen, we recommend one be performed prior to your pets surgery in order to detect any hidden problems that could threaten your pet's well-being while under anesthesia. We highly recommend all pets 7 years of age or older and small breed animals have this test performed.
At Lake City Animal Hospital City Animal Hospital we have the talent, technology and training to perform a broad range of simple and complex surgical procedures from spay/neuter surgeries, to more complex orthopedic and maxillofacial surgeries. A list of common surgical procedures appears below:
Fractures, Hip Dysplasia, Tibial Tuberosity Advancement (TTA), Femoral Head Ostectomy (FHO), Pelvic Osteotomy, Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL), Medial Patella Luxation, Carpal Hyperextension Instability, Partial Carpal Fusion, Achilles Tendon Ruptures (acute and chronic), and Limb alignment corrections
